Sotong Lada Hitam (ala Sri Lanka)

Black Pepper Squids (Sri Lankan Style)

500 g squids - cleaned, scratched (as picture) and cut to small square size

1 big onion - sliced
3 cloves garlic - pounded
1 inch ginger - pounded
2 sprigs curry leaves
1 pc tomato - sliced
1 tsp black pepper - coarsely grounded
1 tsp tumeric powder
1 stalk lemon grass - sliced

1/2 cup water
2 tbsps cooking oil
2 tsps lemon juice
salt to taste


Heat cooking oil over medium heat. Fry onion, curry leaves, garlic, ginger and tomato until soft.
Add in lemon grass, black pepper and tumeric. Fry for 2 minutes.
Add in water and squids, stir to mix well. Lets cook for 5 minutes. Stir in lemon juice and salt to taste.
Turn off fire. Ready to serve.
